Moving on…
I used King Schools to complete my ground school for my private pilot certificate and I received several additional courses with my everything bundle.

After speaking to a few people and pilots at work I’m really thinking of getting the career pilot bundle and going all the way to commercial pilot so that I could teach or do something in retirement that’s aviation related.
Ok so 3 days into my pilot life and I’m having withdrawals from not exercising my certificate privileges. What to do with my time now that the study guide and notebooks have taken their place on the bookshelf until needed at a later date?
The oral portion lasted until 11:00, all that studying payed off, I never felt rattled or drew any blanks. I didn’t know everything about every question or topic but was able to discuss it and knew where to look in the FAR or HBs.
Well my final, practical, exam date is soon arriving so I’m still doing some prepping for it. The Orla exam starts at 7 AM until 11.
All of my instructors have told me to work on checklist execution and maneuvers at my desk, or wherever I am, so that it develops muscle/brain memory. The DO and VERIFY method: DO the actions, VERIFY them with a checklist.
Ok so this weeks update is two part: 1) it looks like the earliest I can do my Oral Exam and Check Ride aka the Private Pilot Practical Test is November 28th.
My application for my pilot certificate has been filed so I’m simply waiting on a call from the examiner to schedule a time that works for both of us.
This past week’s lesson was a challenge, I left a bit down and disappointed. I had hoped for better and I felt I let myself down, probably disappointed the instructor?
As it goes in flight training you have to go with what the weather gives you. We had a really tough spring with lots of rain, wind, and low ceilings and now that fall is here the winds have returned.
Our mission is to save hounds and introduce young people to aviation through volunteerism. We will work with youth, primarily through our rescue efforts, to show them how flying opens up the world to them and the good they can do through flight.
